Business in Rochdale
Rochdale was a cotton town and the machinery of that has largely gone, but the engineering skill did not: much of what is here now is precision manufacturing, textiles that moved upmarket, and food production, with Kingsway Business Park on the M62 adding modern distribution space at a scale the older estates never had. The town centre has had heavy investment and carries the retail and public-sector side. A lot of the industrial premises are Victorian mill buildings converted into units, which is where the practical problem starts — thick stone walls and a modern network do not naturally get on.

Rochdale — common questions
Our Rochdale unit is in a converted mill and the Wi-Fi dies through the walls. Why?
Because Victorian mill construction is close to the worst case for wireless — thick stone, cast iron and often internal brick partitions that a signal simply will not cross. The answer is not a stronger router, which is what most people try; it is more access points positioned for the building rather than the floor plan, and cabled back rather than daisy-chained wirelessly. We survey these rather than estimate them.
We have a Kingsway unit and an older site in town. Can both run as one business?
Yes, and it is worth doing rather than running two setups. One cloud phone system covers both sites with internal dialling between them, one bill, and calls that can be answered at whichever site has someone free. The two buildings will need very different network design — a new unit and a converted mill are not comparable — but that is the install, not the system.
