Legal & Financial Services Telecoms

Recorded, resilient communications for firms where a call is a client record and an outage is a regulatory problem.

Talk to us about legal & finance

Regulation here is not one rulebook. Law firms answer to the SRA, financial services firms to the FCA, and every practice in the sector, accountancy included, sits under UK GDPR as well. The result is a set of questions an ordinary office phone system is never asked: was that call recorded, how long is the recording kept, who is allowed to play it back, and could any of it be read by someone outside the firm.

Recording is not a single switch. It is a series of decisions: which users and which lines are recorded, whether callers are told, where the audio is stored, how long it is held, and who is allowed to retrieve it. Those are settings, and they are set to your policy rather than to a default. The policy itself stays with your compliance lead, because SRA and FCA expectations differ and holding everything indefinitely is its own GDPR exposure.

Confidentiality is the harder half. Privilege and personal financial detail mean the material moving through the system is worth stealing, so communications are encrypted and access to recordings is limited to named people rather than shared around the office. Staying reachable belongs with it: instructions arrive by phone, so a line that does not answer is a client problem before it is an IT one. Resilient connectivity is specified for that reason, not for the sake of an extra circuit.

How we help legal & finance

Call recording and reporting

Recording with DDI-level reporting on Evonex, so a call can be attributed to the fee-earner who took it and retrieved when it is asked for.

Client data stays in the UK

Backups and hosted systems in UK Tier 3+ data centres, with business continuity and disaster recovery behind them.

Built for a targeted sector

MFA, email scanning, Zero Trust and 24/7 monitoring, plus Voicesafe against toll fraud on the voice services.

Your numbers, unchanged

Full number porting and direct dials per fee-earner, so nothing on your letterhead or in the regulator’s records has to change.

Legal & Finance — Common Questions

Can calls be recorded and retrieved for compliance?

Yes. Evonex records calls and reports at DDI level, so activity can be attributed to the individual who handled it and a specific call retrieved when it is requested. How long recordings are kept is your decision to set against your own retention policy — we configure it, you own the policy.

Where would our client data physically sit?

In UK Tier 3+ data centres. That matters for firms with data residency obligations or clients who ask the question directly, and it is one of the reasons we host in the UK rather than reselling capacity wherever it happens to be cheapest.

We are a small firm. Are we actually a target?

Yes, and often more so than a large one. Smaller firms hold the same client money and confidential information but rarely have a dedicated security team, which is exactly what makes them attractive. The controls that matter most are unglamorous — MFA on every account, email scanning, tested backups and separate admin accounts — and none of them require a large IT budget.

Will moving phone systems change our numbers?

No. Full porting brings your existing numbers across, including 01, 02, 03 and 08 ranges. For a firm whose number appears on a letterhead, a practising certificate and years of correspondence, that is usually the first question — and the answer is that nothing your clients have on file needs to change.
