Business in Uxbridge

Uxbridge is an office town rather than a suburb, which is what separates it from the rest of Hillingdon. The A40 corridor and the town centre hold corporate occupiers in buildings large enough to have their own facilities teams, Stockley Park sits a short distance south as a business park of single-tenant buildings with infrastructure of their own, and Brunel University London puts a campus economy alongside both. Underneath that is the ordinary market of a borough town — solicitors, accountants and dental practices on and around the High Street, most with nobody whose job is technology. The two halves want opposite things from us: the corporate end already has a network and wants a specific piece done properly, and the High Street end wants the whole thing to be somebody else's problem.

Uxbridge — common questions

Our Uxbridge office is a corporate site with an internal IT team. Is there anything you would actually add?

Usually one thing rather than everything, and it is worth being blunt about which. Where an internal team runs the network well, the gap tends to be voice — a phone system nobody owns, or SIP trunks inherited from a supplier who no longer answers. Buying that as a managed service alongside your own team is a normal arrangement and a more honest fit than proposing to replace people who are doing their jobs.

We are a small practice on the High Street, not a corporate. Are we too small?

No, and the mix in Uxbridge is more of you than of them. A firm of ten with no technical staff is the case cloud telephony was built for: no system in the building, no maintenance contract on a box, and changes made by us on request. The thing worth checking first is the connection, because the older buildings on and behind the High Street vary a great deal more than the business parks do.

How far is somebody if we need them on site in Uxbridge?

Close. Uxbridge is a short run from Windsor, and Joshua Littman covers it directly rather than it being passed to whoever is free. Most faults are fixed remotely because that is genuinely faster, but this is not a postcode where a site visit turns into a day.

The 2027 switch-off affects Uxbridge too. Every analogue and ISDN line in the UK stops working in January 2027. If you are not sure what that means for your lines, the detail is worth ten minutes.
